Designing our Modern Farmhouse with Our Builder
This past winter we worked with our builder, Curtis Homes and architect, Muddy River Designs to create our modern farmhouse design. We have a long, but narrow quarter acre lot in Hood River, Oregon. Since our lot is very long and narrow, we decided to create an L-shaped home to make the most of our space.
Modern Farmhouse Design
It was important to our family that the house include as many modern farmhouse elements as possible. You may remember I did a post earlier on elements of a modern farmhouse (click here to read post). To incorporate as many of these elements as possible, we decided to add the following modern farmhouse design elements to our house: board and batten siding, black windows, white exterior, black roof, and of course front and backyard covered porches.
Here are some different views and angles of the house as drawn by our architect, Muddy River Designs:

Design Is Coming Together
We are thrilled with how the modern farmhouse design came together and canât wait to make this our new home. Right now the siding is currently going up on our house and the inside was just insulated. Hopefully by the end of the week, the dry wall will also be going up. As our build progresses, I will be posting lots of progress photos both here on the blog and on my Instagram stories in the coming weeks.
