Take A Tour Inside The Flowering Farmhouse’s Kitchen
“The kitchen is the heart of every home, for the most part. It evokes memories of your family history.” – Debi Mazar
Perhaps one of my favorite spaces to design during our home build was our kitchen. Our family spends so much time every day in the kitchen. It was important to us that this space not only be functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. Since we were building a modern farmhouse, we choose to stick with the same theme throughout our home build. Our kitchen features a nice blend of woods and whites for a modern farmhouse look. Join me for a kitchen tour inside our modern farmhouse.

Designing Our Kitchen
Since we were building a farmhouse, it was important to keep the same design theme throughout our kitchen. White cabinets, butcher block, a farmhouse sink, and industrial farmhouse pendants were items that I wanted to incorporate into our kitchen to give it a farmhouse feel.
In designing our farmhouse kitchen I actually struggled with whether or not to take our white kitchen tile backsplash all the way to the ceiling or not. Looking back I am so grateful that we did choose to tile the entire wall. We used a white subway tile with a grey grout. This design element adds such a nice visual for our kitchen.
While we choose all white cabinets and counter tops, we opted for a butcher block kitchen island. To me, having the kitchen island free of any appliances or a sink was also very important. I wanted our island to be a space that could also be used for gatherings. I love how open and spacious our kitchen island is.
This kitchen is truly the heart of our home. We have spent countless hours in here preparing meals, eating meals, baking treats, and sitting at the kitchen island.

Flooring
We decided to install luxury vinyl planks (LVP Flooring) since we have a young child and two dogs. These floors are virtually scratch proof, extremely durable, and much more affordable than real wood. Our LVP flooring is from Resolve Floors and the color is called Farmhouse.
Appliances
For our appliances we went with Bosch for our dishwasher, oven, and hood vent. Our fridge is a LG Standard Depth Fridge. We debated having a counter depth fridge, but decided to opt for the extra space. We don’t even notice that it sticks out beyond the counters.
Floating Shelves
Our floating shelves were custom made by Future Folk Supply in Hood River, Oregon. You can read the history of these reclaimed shelves by clicking here.
Lighting
We worked with Destination Lighting to pick out our LED farmhouse kitchen pendants. You can read about these lights by clicking here.
