Create Some Holiday Magic When You Decorate Your Child’s Bedroom For The Holidays
“May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.”
We decided to bring Christmas decor out early this year to create a special kid’s holiday bedroom for our daughter. Everyone needs a little extra joy this holiday season. Am I right? With everything going on in the world and being home more than usual, we decided that this was the perfect year to make Christmas extra special for our 6 year old. Plus, when she asked if we could decorate her bedroom for Christmas, how could I say no? Hopefully this kid’s holiday bedroom will give you some inspiration for decorating your home too.

Creating A Cozy Holiday Themed Bed
We recently purchased an antique looking white metal bed frame for our daughter’s birthday. She was instantly pretending that the bed was her Christmas sleigh and I’m pretty sure that’s when she decided she needed a Christmas bed this year. Thus we started decorating a kid’s holiday bedroom.
Last year we purchased this Martha Stewart Holiday Bedding from Macy’s on Black Friday. Unfortunately they’ve discontinued the duvet, but they still have these holiday flannel sheets. Below you’ll find several similar quilts and duvets that would look great for a holiday bed. We finished the bed with this cute “Ho Ho Ho” Pillow. And of course my daughter insisted the Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer needed to be on the bed too!
Holiday Books On The Shelf
Our family loves to bring out the Christmas and holiday books as soon as Halloween is over. Last year we decided to build up our holiday collection of books and we did 12 Days of Christmas Books where our daughter received a new book each day. This year we placed some of our favorite holiday books on the shelves next to my daughter’s bed. Each night we read one or two of these books before bed.
Adding Holiday Decor To The Bedroom
Would you believe that we spent less than $20 this year decorating my daughter’s bedroom for Christmas? The only decor we purchased this year were the reindeer garland and red & white pom poms. Everything else in my daughter’s room has been re-used from years past. I actually made these Christmas trees (pictured above) using styrofoam trees and leftover holiday fabric. I cut the fabric and pinned it on to the trees.
The advent calendar in my daughter’s room is actually my childhood advent calendar. She loves this nativity scene and it’s so fun to wake up each morning and put a nativity piece on the calendar as she counts down to Christmas. While my advent calendar is no longer available, I’ve linked a few similar ones you might like:
DIY Holiday Wall Decor: Holiday Wrapped Presents
Above my daughter’s bed was a gallery wall of mermaids and ocean critters. The pastel colors didn’t quite go well with the Christmas decor. Instead of taking them down, we decided to wrap the frames like presents. I used three different wrapping papers and wrapped each frame individually. You could add bows to the wrapped frames to make them look even more like presents. I love how this simple DIY created a Christmas gallery wall above the bed.
Children’s Holiday Bedroom Inspo
I hope that seeing my daughter’s Christmas themed bedroom gave you some inspiration for creating your own kid’s holiday bedroom. Instead of going out and buying lots of new decorations for their room, consider letting them even make some decor. You could make paper garlands, cut out Christmas trees, and more!
