It’s almost summer and that means lots of fresh homegrown flowers around here! Come join me for a summer home tour of The Flowering Farmhouse where I use lots of flowers to decorate for summertime. This summer home tour includes our front porch, kitchen, bathroom, and even greenhouse. Whereas other holidays and seasons I go all out with decor, in the summer months I like to keep things simple and primarily decorate with homegrown flowers.

Bloggers Best – Summer Home Tour 2021
I am so honored to be a part of the Bloggers Best Summer Home Tour 2021. This week, we have 30 amazing bloggers sharing their summer homes for your enjoyment and inspiration!
Be sure to come back each day and click on the links below to see the complete tour! A huge thank you to Kelly from The Tattered Pew for hosting this fun summer tour. If you’re stopping by from my friend Jennifer‘s blog at Cottage On Bunker Hill, WELCOME!

A Summer Welcoming Front Porch
I love creating a welcoming front porch in the summer months. Having lots of fresh flowers in planter boxes creates such a welcoming entrance to our home. Our front porch is also our most wind sheltered spot in our yard so we spend a lot of time outside here in the summer months.

On our front porch we have two black rocking chairs and a loveseat for seating. I found this cute wicker tray at Target that’s perfect for our summer picnic lunches.

For Christmas my daughter gave me dwarf sweet peas. I decided to plant these seeds in hanging baskets. I started these hanging baskets in my greenhouse in March and moved them outside in May. Once the sweet peas are done, I have some petunias in hanging baskets in the greenhouse that I’ll swap these out with. Hanging baskets are one of my favorite summer porch decorations.

I like to keep our front doorway simple with a wreath and planters next to the door. This tulip wreath is from HomeGoods and our entryway mat is from Ruggable’s new outdoor entryway mat collection. There’s two black Tetra Planters from Loll Designs and I love changing these up with the changing of seasons. Well that’s a tour of my summer front porch.

Modern Farmhouse Kitchen: Summer Home Tour
Since we spend the majority of our time in the kitchen, this is the space that I focus on decorating. I do all of my flower arranging in the kitchen so I always like to take my leftover flowers and make a few bouquets for the kitchen. (For those of you who are new here, I’m a flower farmer and we grow flowers on a 1/2 acre of leased land next to our property).

This spring my friend gifted me almost 30 lilac starts from her garden. She even brought me these gorgeous blooms! I can not wait until next spring when I have these blooming in my garden. Let me tell you, these are some of the most fragrant lilacs I’ve ever smelled. They seriously made our entire house smell so good.
Here’s a Pinterest Pin For Making Your Lilac Bouquet Last Longer:

Using Smaller Flower Bouquets Throughout the Kitchen
I’ve found that verses making one huge bouquet, I like to put little bouquets around the house. Below I have a small bouquet next to the stove. I also updated our rugs and we have these new machine washable runners from Ruggable.

Summer Home Tour of Our Modern Farmhouse Bathroom
Our master bathroom is another spot that I love to add fresh flowers to in the summer months. Right now since we don’t have a lot blooming in the garden yet I added small bouquets of garden roses to our bathroom counters.

I really like keeping our bathroom clean and simple. Our bathroom is very neutral with pops of greenery. The roses add a slight feminine touch to the woods and whites in this modern farmhouse bathroom. I also love decorating with real greenery. Our house plants really liven up the space and make it feel more inviting. All the plants in here are real except for the eucalyptus on the bathroom counter.

While there’s nothing super fancy about our bathroom, I do love seeing and smelling the fresh flowers from our garden. One day I’ll maybe get around to hanging some wall art or decor in here, but for now the flowers will have to do 😉

Summer Home Tour: Summer Greenhouse
In case you missed my last blog post, I did a summer greenhouse tour which you can find here. Our greenhouse is still full of flower starts as I continually am succession planting to ensure we have flowers all summer long for our Flower C.S.A..
If you don’t have space for your own cutting garden, I highly recommend looking into a local Flower C.S.A. subscription from your local farmer. This is a great way to support a local farm and also enjoy fresh, locally grown flowers all summer long!

Below is a peek at our newest field that we are leasing from our neighbor. On this field we are growing dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, carnations, celosia, cosmos, amaranth, sunflowers, calendula, strawflower, phlox, mignonette, and so much more!

Well that concludes my summer home tour. I hope that seeing my simple floral decor has inspired you to add some flower bouquets to your home. Sometimes keeping it simple is best! If you have a moment, I’d love to hear from you below!
Make sure you head on over to Leen and James’ home at Sand Dollar Lane for some Coastal Farmhouse Summer Inspiration! Thanks for joining me for my summer home tour!
