Our Regenerative Flower Farm Documentary:
A Story of Starting Over and the Ripple Effect of Local Flowers
In September 2024, our family became stewards of a fallow, forgotten 20-acre field in Hood River, Oregon. This land did not look like much, but it felt like possibility. After losing the leased land we had farmed since 2019 at the end of 2023, we found ourselves starting over from scratch. Becoming caretakers of this new property was an act of hope, resilience, and trust in what could someday bloom here.
This multi-year documentary follows our family’s journey of rebuilding a regenerative flower farm from the ground up and explores the ripple effect of local flowers in the community and the ecosystem.
Why We Are Making This Film
Flower farming has shaped our lives for years, but when we lost our leased land, we faced a moment of uncertainty and reinvention. As we began documenting the process of starting over, something unexpected revealed itself. Local flowers create a ripple that stretches far beyond the farm.
Flowers touch people, support pollinators, and strengthen ecosystems. They bring joy, memory, and meaning into everyday life. They remind us that beauty is fleeting, and that presence matters. And when grown sustainably and locally, they offer a hopeful path forward for land, community, and the natural world.
This film follows our family as the emotional thread, but the story expands into something bigger: the community stories, the ecological stories, and the human stories that bloom when people choose local flowers.
What Makes This Documentary Unique
There has never been a feature-length documentary about a regenerative flower farm. At a time when more than 80 percent of cut flowers sold in the United States are imported and grown with synthetic chemicals, this film shines a light on a growing movement toward sustainability, biodiversity, and connection.
This documentary will do more than show our family’s work on the land. It will explore the impact local flowers make in people’s lives, in communities, and in the soil beneath our feet. It will show how beauty grown close to home can spark healing, hope, and meaningful change.

A Multi-Year Journey
We are now one year into filming. Production will continue through 2027 so we can authentically document the transformation of the land, the growth of the farm, and the stories that emerge around it. After filming concludes, we will move into post-production to shape the film into a feature-length documentary for festivals, distributors, and global audiences.
This long timeline allows the story to evolve naturally and gives us the opportunity to capture real change in real time.
