A fall themed dahlia bouquet 💐 featuring cornel

A fall themed dahlia bouquet 💐 featuring cornel bronze dahlias and first year dahlia seedlings from my breeding patch. Also included in this bouquet are scented geraniums, bronze amaranth, marigolds, celosia, chrysanthemums, feverfew, yarrow, and alstroemerias. This bouquet was delivered this week to one of our local restaurants.
What fall colors are you drawn to this year? I am loving the peaches and apricots with some blush as well.

I’ve been waiting patiently for this 2nd year seedling to bloom. Well it finally bloomed and it looks like it did last year. Still white with a touch of blush. The form is good with the head sitting at a 45° angle and a nice strong attachment to the stem.
This is the first bloom so I’ll continue to watch to see how it performs for the remainder of the season.
Dahlia seedlings can be unstable with their genetics so it’s important to watch them and take notes for a few years before releasing a new variety to the market. I’m hopeful that this one will prove itself this year.

Sharing these “Daddy Girl” dahlias today… can’t think of a more fitting dahlia for National Daughter’s Day.
If you don’t grow this dahlia, it’s a gorgeous soft pink dahlia with lots of blooms! Be sure to add this one to your must grow list.

I've been scrambling the last few days to dead hea

I've been scrambling the last few days to dead head and clean-up the dahlia field before we get hit with a huge rain storm this week. Usually when we get rain, we also get wind which means I worry about the dahlias snapping or tipping over. I do have our field staked and netted, but some of the plants are huge this year! By cutting off some of the spent blooms, I can limit how much the plants get weighted down with the rain.
How's the weather where you live? Is it suddenly shifting from summer to fall?

I spent yesterday afternoon harvesting these fall themed flowers for a special bouquet. I was definitely feeling the autumn vibes.
