Chocolate Crinkles

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are the ultimate Christmas Cookie in our family! The soft and chewy chocolate cookies are covered in powdered sugar and are a family favorite! These cookies are easy to make and taste delicious!

  • 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 4 oz Unsweetened Chocolate I use Baker's Premium Baking Bars
  • 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar


  • In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir and set aside.
  • Melt 4 oz. of unsweetened chocolate over stove top on low heat. Stirring frequently to prevent chocolate from burning on pan. Once melted, remove from heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine vegetable oil, melted unsweetened chocolate, and sugar. Beat in one egg at a time until well mixed. Add Vanilla.
  • Stir in dry ingredients (except for powdered sugar).
  • Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator. Chill for at least several hours or overnight.
  • Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Form small tbsp size balls of dough. Roll cookie balls in powdered sugar. Place approximately 2'' apart on baking sheet.
  • Bake in oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for 2 min. Transfer to wire baking rack to finish cooling.
  • Enjoy!


I  make my chocolate cookie dough several days in advance. The dough stores well in the fridge for about a week (make sure it's covered so it doesn't dry out). I also usually double my recipe so I have extra to give away to friends and family.
Once you've baked the cookies, store them in an air-tight container. They will last for 3-5 days.
